What to Expect During Your First Massage Session
Trying something can bring up questions or nerves, and that’s completely normal. Knowing what to expect before your first massage session can help you feel more relaxed, informed, and comfortable from the moment you arrive.
Before Your Session
Before your appointment, you’ll be asked to complete a health intake questionnaire. This form helps ensure your session is safe and tailored to your needs by gathering information about your health history, injuries, medications, allergies, and any physical or sensory considerations. If anything changes between booking and your appointment, you’re encouraged to share that information as well.
There is never any pressure or expectation to book additional sessions, and there are no sales pitches. All services are all-inclusive, and the focus of your visit is simply to support your body and well-being in that moment.
Arriving at the Studio
The studio is located at:
911 East 86th Street, Suite 5
Indianapolis, IN 46240
When you arrive, you’ll enter the building, go downstairs to the basement level, and wait quietly in the lobby area of my studio Suite 5. I will come get you as soon as I am available. This quiet waiting space helps maintain a calm and respectful environment for everyone.
During the Session
Your massage session is always customized to your comfort, goals, and nervous system. You’ll undress to your own level of comfort and remain properly draped at all times. Pressure, techniques, and focus areas are adjusted throughout the session based on your feedback.
Your comfort is monitored continuously. If anything feels uncomfortable — physically or emotionally — pressure can be adjusted, techniques can change, or the session can stop immediately if needed. You are always in control of your experience, and communication is welcomed at any point.
Massage is meant to feel supportive, not overwhelming, and sessions are paced to honor your body’s responses.
After the Session
After your massage, you may feel deeply relaxed, more mobile, or slightly sore especially if deeper work was involved. Drinking water, resting, and gentle movement can help your body integrate the session. There is no obligation to rebook, though you’re always welcome to ask questions or discuss what felt helpful.
Your first massage is not about doing anything “right.” It’s about creating a safe, respectful experience that supports your body and helps you feel more at eases.
